Choosing a Clutch and Flywheel for Your 2005–2006 Jeep Wrangler
Planning a clutch repair for your Jeep Wrangler TJ or Unlimited? Before ordering parts, confirm the engine, transmission, and flywheel application.
The SayParts LuK 05-065 + LFW484 bundle combines a RepSet clutch kit and replacement flywheel for compatible 2005–2006 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L manual transmission applications.
This guide explains what the package includes and why the flywheel part number matters.

What Is Included?
| Component | Details |
|---|---|
| Clutch pressure plate | Included in LuK 05-065 |
| Clutch disc | Included in LuK 05-065 |
| Clutch release / throw-out bearing | Included |
| Required pilot components and accessory pack | As specified for the application |
| Replacement flywheel | LuK LFW484 |
Hydraulic master and slave cylinders are not included.
This package includes both the clutch kit and flywheel. A listing for the 05-065 clutch kit alone does not necessarily include a flywheel.
Vehicle Compatibility
| Vehicle | Model Years | Engine | Transmission Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jeep Wrangler / TJ | 2005–2006 | 4.0L inline-six | Compatible original manual transmission |
| Jeep Wrangler Unlimited / LJ | 2005–2006 | 4.0L inline-six | Compatible original manual transmission |
Confirm that both 05-065 and LFW484 match your vehicle before purchasing.
Automatic transmission models and 2.4L engines are not covered. Vehicles with engine conversions or transmission swaps require a separate compatibility check based on the installed components.
LFW484 vs. LFW193: Why the Flywheel Number Matters
You may find several Jeep bundles using the same LuK 05-065 clutch kit but different flywheels.
Our earlier-model Jeep 4.0L bundle uses LFW193. The bundle discussed here uses LFW484 for the specified 2005–2006 Wrangler applications.
Do not assume the flywheels are interchangeable because the clutch kit number is the same. Match the flywheel to your vehicle’s model year, engine, and transmission configuration.
If you are comparing listings, check both component numbers rather than relying on a broad “Jeep 4.0L clutch kit” description.
Do You Need a Replacement Flywheel?
A clutch replacement does not automatically require a new flywheel. Your installer should inspect the existing flywheel and determine the correct repair using the applicable service procedures.
If replacement is required, this bundle lets you order the flywheel alongside the clutch kit.
Discuss the repair requirements before purchasing so your shop can prepare the necessary parts.
Is the Release Bearing the Same as a Slave Cylinder?
No. The clutch release bearing and hydraulic slave cylinder perform different functions.
The release bearing is included in the clutch kit. The hydraulic master and slave cylinders are not included in this bundle.
Ask your installer to inspect the hydraulic system and release mechanism separately. Any additional components should be identified before the repair begins.
Diagnose the Problem Before Ordering
Clutch slipping, difficulty shifting, or changes in pedal feel are reasons to have your Jeep inspected. These symptoms alone do not identify which component needs replacement.
A qualified technician should assess the clutch assembly, flywheel, and operating system. Choose parts after confirming the repair requirements.
What If Your Jeep Has Been Modified?
Engine conversions and transmission swaps can change clutch and flywheel requirements.
For a modified Jeep, the original VIN may not identify the installed drivetrain correctly. Give your installer the engine and transmission details and confirm the required components before ordering.
This bundle is listed as a replacement solution. It does not claim an increased torque rating or suitability for every modified setup.
