Volkswagen 2.0T FSI 5W-40 Oil Change Guide
Routine oil changes are especially important in turbocharged Volkswagen FSI engines. Fresh engine oil helps protect the turbocharger, camshaft, bearings, timing components, and other internal engine surfaces.
This guide applies to compatible Volkswagen Eos, Golf R, GTI, Jetta GLI, and Passat 2.0T FSI models using the 06D115562-style cartridge oil filter.

FSI Versus TSI Fitment
Volkswagen used several different 2.0-liter turbocharged engines. Although FSI and TSI engines have similar displacement, they may use different oil filters and service components.
The 06D115562 filter is used in selected FSI applications. Check the engine cover, engine code, existing filter, or VIN-based parts information before ordering.
Why Use VW 502 00 Oil?
The compatible gasoline engines covered by this guide require oil meeting VW 502 00. Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech SAE 5W-40 provides:

Do not select oil based only on the 5W-40 viscosity. The required Volkswagen specification must also match.
Parts and Tools Required
- Five liters of VW 502 00-compatible SAE 5W-40 oil
- Hengst E27H D125 cartridge oil filter
- Replacement filter housing O-ring
- Replacement drain plug or seal when required
- Oil drain pan
- Correct filter housing socket
- Ratchet and socket set
- Torque wrench
- Funnel
- Protective gloves and cleaning towels
Oil Change Procedure
- Park the vehicle on a level surface.
- Allow the engine to warm slightly and switch it off.
- Engage the parking brake and safely raise the vehicle if required.
- Remove the lower engine cover.
- Position a drain pan beneath the oil pan.
- Remove the drain plug and allow the used oil to drain completely.
- Remove the oil filter housing cap and old cartridge filter.
- Remove the old filter housing O-ring.
- Lightly lubricate the new O-ring with fresh engine oil.
- Install the replacement cartridge filter and O-ring correctly.
- Tighten the filter housing cap to the manufacturer’s specification.
- Reinstall or replace the oil drain plug and seal as necessary.
- Add the initial quantity of fresh engine oil.
- Start the engine briefly and inspect for leaks.
- Switch off the engine and wait several minutes.
- Check the dipstick and add oil gradually as required.
- Reinstall the lower engine cover.
- Reset the service reminder.
Do Not Overfill the Engine
Five liters are supplied, but the entire quantity may not be required. Add oil gradually and verify the final level using the dipstick.
Overfilling can cause oil aeration, excessive crankcase pressure, leakage, and damage to the catalytic converter or turbocharger system.
Confirm Compatibility Before Ordering

- The vehicle has a compatible 2.0T FSI engine
