Oil Change Procedure

  1. Park the Touareg on a level surface.
  2. Allow the engine to warm slightly, then switch it off.
  3. Engage the parking brake and safely raise the vehicle if required.
  4. Remove the lower engine protection panel.
  5. Position a large-capacity drain pan beneath the oil pan.
  6. Remove the drain plug and allow the used oil to drain completely.
  7. Access and remove the oil filter housing.
  8. Remove the used cartridge filter.
  9. Remove the old filter housing O-ring.
  10. Lightly lubricate the new O-ring with fresh engine oil.
  11. Install the new filter and O-ring in their correct positions.
  12. Tighten the filter housing components to the manufacturer’s specification.
  13. Install the drain plug and new sealing washer.
  14. Add fresh engine oil gradually.
  15. Start the engine briefly and inspect the filter housing and drain plug for leaks.
  16. Switch off the engine and wait several minutes.
  17. Check the oil level using the approved procedure.
  18. Add oil gradually until the correct level is reached.
  19. Reinstall the lower protection panel.
  20. Reset the oil service reminder.

Do Not Add All Nine Liters Immediately

The kit supplies nine liters, but the exact refill quantity depends on how completely the old oil drains and the vehicle’s configuration.

Add most of the required quantity first, run the engine briefly, allow the oil to settle, and check the level. Overfilling can cause oil aeration, excessive crankcase pressure, leaks, or catalytic-converter damage.
